GlobalSky is a professional crew operations platform for authorised airline personnel. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights under applicable law including the GDPR.
GlobalSky provides a crew operations platform to airline operators. Your employer or operator is the data controller — they determine why and how your personal data is processed. GlobalSky acts as the data processor, operating the technical infrastructure on their behalf.
For privacy requests, contact your company administrator first. For questions about GlobalSky's role as processor, contact us at info@globalsky.be.
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
Data is processed to authenticate and authorise access; to deliver company communications including private messages, NOTAMs and emergency alerts; to synchronise and display your roster; to provide nearby weather information; to record acknowledgement of safety-critical communications; to monitor connection activity for account security; and to diagnose technical issues when you choose to submit a report.
The legal basis is determined by your employer as data controller — typically performance of your employment contract, compliance with operational obligations, or legitimate interests in maintaining a secure platform.
Your data is accessible to authorised personnel within your company and to GlobalSky administrators for platform maintenance and support. Data is never shared between companies, sold, or used for advertising.
GlobalSky uses Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, notifications) and CheckWX (weather data). These providers act as sub-processors under appropriate data processing agreements. Some may process data outside the EEA; where GDPR applies, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
Account and operational data is retained for as long as your account is active and as required by your employer. Voluntary diagnostic reports are deleted automatically after 30 days. Connection timestamps are overwritten at each session and are not accumulated. Locally cached data is cleared when you log out or remove the app.
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data. To exercise them, contact your company administrator — your employer, as data controller, is responsible for handling your request within 30 days.
GlobalSky provides your company administrator with the tools necessary to fulfil these requests. Some rights may be subject to limitations where processing is required for safety, legal compliance, or legitimate operational purposes.
If you believe your personal data has been processed unlawfully, you may contact your company administrator or lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority:
